Shriram Finance raises fixed deposit rates by up to 0.40 points; 36-60 month deposits now 7.85% a year

Shriram Finance revised its fixed deposit interest rates from 11 October 2026, raising them by 0.15 to 0.40 percentage points depending on tenure. Old and new rates by tenure, and the extra rates for senior citizens and women.

Shriram Finance Limited, a non-banking finance company (NBFC, a lender that is not a bank but also takes fixed deposits), revised the interest rates on its fixed deposits (FDs) from 11 October 2026. For a new or renewed 36 to 60 month deposit by a resident individual, the yearly rate is now 7.85% a year, up from 7.50%. The increases range from 0.15 to 0.40 percentage points depending on the tenure (the length of the deposit). A basis point (bps) is one-hundredth of a percentage point, so 0.40 percentage points is 40 bps.

The rate that applies is the one in force on the date a deposit is made or renewed, according to the company’s rate page.

Old and new rates

These are the rates for resident individuals and non-individuals on the cumulative option (interest paid together with the principal at maturity), as shown on the company’s page from 11 October 2026. The old rates are as reported by Business Today.

Tenure Old rate New rate Change
12 months 6.85% 7.00% +0.15 points (15 bps)
15 months (digital deposits only) 7.10% 7.50% +0.40 points (40 bps)
18 to 23 months 7.05% 7.25% +0.20 points (20 bps)
24 to 35 months 7.10% 7.50% +0.40 points (40 bps)
36 to 60 months 7.50% 7.85% +0.35 points (35 bps)

All rates are per year. The company’s page also lists lower rates for deposits where interest is paid out monthly, quarterly or half-yearly; for example, the 36 to 60 month rate is 7.58% with monthly payout.

Who gets what

  • Senior citizens, meaning those who have completed 60 years on the date of deposit or renewal, get an extra 0.50 percentage points a year. The company’s page lists this as an add-on rather than a separate table. Business Today reports it is unchanged.
  • Women depositors get an extra 0.05 percentage points a year.
  • Depositors renewing an existing deposit get an extra 0.15 percentage points a year, according to the company’s page.
  • The revised rates apply to deposits of up to ₹10 crore. The minimum deposit is ₹5,000.

Basis of these figures

New rates, the effective date, the senior citizen and women add-ons, the ₹10 crore limit and the minimum deposit are from the Shriram Finance fixed deposit page, which says the rates apply with effect from 11 October 2026. The company page does not show the earlier rates; those and the statement that the senior citizen add-on is unchanged are from Business Today. Business Standard also reported the 15 to 40 basis point range, the 7.85% top rate and the old rates for the 12-month, 18 to 23 month and 24 to 35 month rows. The revision was announced two days after the RBI raised its repo rate to 5.5% on 7 October 2026; the sources reviewed do not say the two are connected. Rates are subject to change.
