What is a board meeting intimation? How companies announce their results date

A board meeting intimation is the advance notice a listed company gives the stock exchanges of the meeting that will consider its results. What it says and where to find it.

Listed companies do not surprise the market with a results date. They announce the meeting in advance, on the stock exchanges. That notice is the board meeting intimation.

What it is

A company’s board of directors approves its financial results at a board meeting. Before that meeting, the company files a short notice with the stock exchanges. The notice states the date of the meeting and that financial results will be considered. For some meetings it also names other business, such as a dividend.

Where to find it

  • The company’s page on the exchange announcements section, listed by date.
  • The company’s investor relations page, often under “financial calendar” or “announcements”.

What happens next

  1. The meeting takes place on the stated date.
  2. The board approves the results, after the audit committee has reviewed them.
  3. The company files the results statement with the exchanges. See the results calendar guide for the deadlines.

Reading the intimation

The intimation is a fact about a date. It does not say what the results will show. If the date is later than the company’s usual one, the notice does not say why; any reason would be in a separate filing.
