NPS Central launched: one website for NPS accounts that were run through three separate record-keepers
PFRDA launched NPS Central on 1 October 2026, one digital platform where NPS subscribers can enrol, invest and manage their pension accounts, built jointly by the three record-keeping agencies.
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), the regulator of the National Pension System (NPS), launched “NPS Central” on 1 October 2026, NPS Diwas (the regulator’s annual awareness day). Outlook Money reported the launch on 1 October; PTI carried a PFRDA statement on 19 October. It is a single digital platform where NPS subscribers can enrol, invest and manage their pension accounts, instead of using the separate website of each record-keeper. NPS is a voluntary, market-linked pension scheme and returns are not guaranteed.
What it is
Every NPS account is held with one of three Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs), the companies that keep the account records. Reports name them as Protean (Protean eGov Technologies), KFin Technologies and CAMS, and the NPS Central site links to all three for support. PTI reported that NPS Central was jointly developed by the three CRAs and is managed by them, and that it brings all three onto one common interface. The NPS Central website describes itself as a place to view and manage an NPS account, contributions, investments and transactions, and lists a retirement calculator.
What the reports say it does
- Enrol, invest and manage accounts through one interface (PTI).
- NPS Swasthya. PTI said the platform facilitates registration for NPS Swasthya, which pairs a dedicated investment corpus with a super top-up health insurance arrangement. The earlier article on NPS Swasthya covers that product.
- Single login. Outlook Money reported a single login and a consolidated dashboard across the three CRAs. Whalesbook reported that users log in with a mobile number and date of birth, so they need not remember their Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN), the unique number that identifies an NPS account. PTI did not mention the login method.
- For banks and other firms. PTI said the platform will allow pension funds, Points of Presence (the banks and other intermediaries through which NPS accounts are opened) and existing NPS apps to offer these services through their own channels. Whalesbook listed SIP mandates, NPS Vatsalya account management and access for banks’ apps as planned features. NPS Vatsalya is the NPS account for children.
What the reports do not say
None of the reports states whether the earlier logins on the three CRAs’ own websites continue to work, or whether any charge applies to using NPS Central.
Basis of these figures
PFRDA’s own release could not be found or opened, so every detail is attributed to the reports linked above. The launch date and agency names are also in Outlook Money. The joint build by the three agencies, the NPS Swasthya link and the integration plan come from the PTI report as carried by Daily Excelsior and HDFC Sky. The mobile-and-date-of-birth login and planned features come only from Whalesbook. The description of services is from the NPS Central site, which does not state a launch date or operator. This article reports the launch and does not say whether any pension arrangement suits any reader.
