Bank of India launches a 500-day fixed deposit at 6.85% a year, 7.35% for senior citizens, from 2 November 2026

Bank of India launched a 500-day deposit called Star Akshay from 2 November 2026, as reported by Amar Ujala. Rates for general customers, senior citizens and super senior citizens.

Bank of India, a public-sector bank, revised some of its fixed deposit (FD) interest rates and launched a new 500-day deposit scheme called Star Akshay, with the new rates effective from 2 November 2026, according to a Hindi-language report by Amar Ujala. A fixed deposit is a sum placed with a bank for a set period at an interest rate agreed in advance.

For a 500-day deposit, the report gives these yearly rates:

Customer group Rate a year
General customers 6.85%
Senior citizens 7.35%
Super senior citizens 7.50%

The report does not state the age cut-offs the bank uses for senior citizens and super senior citizens.

Other deposits

Amar Ujala and eSakal also report that the bank revised rates on deposits of 1 to under 3 years from the same date. The reports do not give the earlier rates, so the size of the change cannot be stated here. Whalesbook separately describes a special 500-day Star Akshay fixed deposit, with rates from 6.85% for general customers up to 7.50% for super senior citizens.

Basis of these figures

The bank’s own rate page and any notice could not be opened (the site returned an access error), so every figure above is as reported by Amar Ujala, which cites a bank statement issued on Monday, 2 November 2026. eSakal confirms the date, the scheme and the 1 to 3 year revision but its available text does not show the rate table. Neither report states a minimum or maximum deposit or a closing date for the scheme. Rates are subject to change.
